However, people that suffer from a<strong> fatty liver<\/strong> don\u2019t necessarily, get the disease from <strong>alcohol abuse<\/strong>. The disease (<strong>NAFLD<\/strong>) is characterized by <strong>too much fat<\/strong> stored in liver cells. This is simply caused by an <strong>unhealthy lifestyle<\/strong> lead by <strong>low physical activity<\/strong>, <strong>bad eating habits<\/strong> or even <strong>genetic predisposition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Despite being a very <strong>common disease<\/strong> affecting an estimated<strong> 80 to 100 million<\/strong> worldwide, especially on the<strong> Western side of the world<\/strong>, <strong>no treatment<\/strong> has been made to tackle the<strong> disease<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The problematic part about the disease is, that <strong>NAFLD<\/strong> can lead to several <strong>other complications<\/strong> including; <strong>type 2 diabetes<\/strong> or <strong>cardiovascular diseases<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Professor Norbert Stefan<\/strong> and <strong>Professor Hans-Ulrich H\u00e4ring<\/strong> from <strong>T\u00fcbingen University Hospital<\/strong> have evaluated the most important data from the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/pdfs\/journals\/landia\/PIIS2213-8587(18)30154-2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NAFLD research<\/a><\/strong> in order to find <strong>possible treatments<\/strong> and <strong>new diagnostic approaches<\/strong> to help with the prognosis for the possibility of <strong>secondary diseases<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For instance, in the case where someone suffers from<strong> type 2 diabetes<\/strong> or <strong>insulin resistance<\/strong>, <strong>fatty liver screening<\/strong> should be recommended. In this situation <strong>endocrinologists<\/strong>, <strong>radiologists<\/strong> or <strong>hepatologists<\/strong> should perform an <strong>MRI<\/strong> and\/or other <strong>examinations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #a36160;\"><em>But how can NAFLD be cured?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Firstly<\/strong>, it is very important to <strong>reduce the fat consumption<\/strong> in order to<strong> prevent possible liver inflammation<\/strong> and <strong>fibrosis<\/strong>. <strong>Lowering BMI<\/strong> thanks to a lifestyle intervention can already<strong> reduce the fat content<\/strong> to a good percentage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the <strong>American Physiological Society<\/strong>. \u00ab\u00a0<strong>More protein<\/strong> after<strong> weight loss<\/strong> may reduce fatty liver disease: Increased protein during weight maintenance also <strong>reduces risk of type 2 diabetes<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If weight loss can\u2019t be achieved traditionally,<strong> pharmaceutical treatments<\/strong> recommended by a <strong>physician<\/strong> should be considered.
