The anonymous patient was born <strong>without<\/strong> a <strong>uterus<\/strong> and received a <strong>transplant<\/strong> about a year ago at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bswhealth.com\/locations\/dallas\/pages\/default.aspx?utm_source=web&amp;utm_medium=marketing&amp;utm_campaign=redirect\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baylor University Medical Center<\/a> in Dallas, Texas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Uterus transplants<\/strong> are seen as hope for women who are born without one or had it removed because of cancer.\u00a0The womb <strong>donors<\/strong> can be <strong>dead or alive<\/strong> and in order to be eligible to receive these wombs the\u00a0patients must be <strong>20-35 years old<\/strong> with <strong>healthy<\/strong> and <strong>normal ovaries <\/strong>(Sifferlin, 2017).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These transplants are meant to be <strong>temporary<\/strong>, the women can have <strong>one<\/strong> or<strong> two children<\/strong> and then needs to have it removed so she can stop the immune-suppressing drugs to prevent organ rejection (Grady, 2017).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both<span style=\"color: #000080;\"> <a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/obgyn.gu.se\/english\/staff?languageId=100001&amp;userId=xjoliz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. Johannesson<\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.baylortransplant.com\/Pages\/DocView.aspx?ProvID=10931\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. Testa<\/a><\/span> said that huge part of their motivation comes from knowing that these women are devastated\u00a0from finding\u00a0out that they\u00a0will not be able to have children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even though the <strong>process<\/strong> is <strong>complicated<\/strong> and the <strong>pregnancies are at high-risk<\/strong>, these transplants bring <strong>more hope<\/strong> to <strong>women without a uterus<\/strong>\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Watch the video.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-sep-clear\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep sep-none\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-top:;\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-video fusion-youtube\" style=\"max-width:1200px;max-height:600px;\"><div class=\"video-shortcode\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/clJn6xsOM1g?wmode=transparent&autoplay=0\" width=\"1200\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div><\/div><p><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">References:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Grady, D.
