You might think of this as a surprise, but after receiving my degree in French and German<\/strong><\/span>, and travelling the world, I wanted to specialise in wine buying! But then I received a call from a recruitment company looking for someone with an international mindset<\/em> who had the language skills<\/span><\/strong> to work with clients<\/strong><\/span> across Europe. I accepted and started working in this field. Since then, I\u2019ve never left it. I love it, it\u2019s varied and no two days are ever the same!<\/p>\n

After 15 years at Spencer Stuart<\/a> and seven years at Korn Ferry<\/a> as a Senior Client Partner<\/strong> <\/span>specialised in international executive search<\/strong><\/span> for the life sciences industry<\/span><\/strong>, I joined STRAMMER<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in July of 2017. I work as a business partner in <\/strong><\/span>Top Management<\/a> where I get the opportunity to work with many different people every day; I find my energy<\/strong> <\/span>from talking<\/span><\/strong> with my clients and candidates<\/strong><\/span>. These people have a passion for life sciences<\/strong><\/span>; what they do and the products they make is about saving people\u2019s lives<\/strong><\/span> and this is what makes them so fascinating to speak and listen to. I\u2019ve seen people\u2019s journeys from being managers<\/strong> <\/span>many years back to progress to become incredible\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>CEOs<\/span><\/b>, some of whom I have helped get that vital next step up in their career. This is so rewarding<\/strong> <\/span>and makes me passionate<\/strong> <\/span>about what I do.<\/p>\n

From working as a search consultant<\/strong> <\/span>for many years, I can say that the most important aspect of this job is to understand your client\u2019 business<\/strong><\/span> and their needs<\/strong><\/span>. Hiring<\/strong><\/span> the right talent<\/strong><\/span> is crucial to business success so clients want a partner they can trust to access<\/strong><\/span> the best candidates<\/strong><\/span> in the market who will not only be able to do the job but fit<\/strong> <\/span>the company<\/span> culture<\/span><\/strong>. Listening<\/strong><\/span> is essential: to understand exactly what your client is looking for and to match this to a candidate\u2019s aspirations<\/span><\/strong>. In this way, strong relationships<\/span><\/strong> are built both with clients and candidates.<\/p>\n

Both the client and the candidate experience throughout a search is important to me. Many successful candidates on my searches have become my clients and tell me: \u201cthis was a very professional experience working with you Penny, I want the people I hire to go through the same process!\u201d. How we treat<\/span> our candidates<\/span><\/strong>, not only reflects<\/strong><\/span> on me as a search consultant<\/strong><\/span>, but also the clients who we are<\/span> representing<\/span><\/strong>. It is important that client\u2019s have trust<\/strong><\/span> in us as ambassadors<\/strong><\/span> for them in the market.<\/p>\n

Working in this sector for twenty years now, I can tell you that the search industry<\/strong><\/span> has transformed<\/strong><\/span> enormously. With the introduction of the internet, social media and the<\/span> professionalisation<\/span>\u00a0of talent acquisition<\/span><\/b> both internally and externally<\/strong><\/span>, it is so important for search consultants to demonstrate the value we add. Today this means not only industry specialisation to truly understand our clients<\/strong> <\/span>but also our expertise in candidate assessment<\/strong><\/span>, both through experience and cutting edge assessment technology<\/strong><\/span> to find the perfect candidate who will make a difference.<\/p>\n

STRAMMER<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>has brought all these elements together which is why I joined them back in July to help build<\/strong><\/span> the Top Management business internationally<\/strong><\/span>.
