AEvice Medical Wearable To Help Manage Asthma For Children

Singapore start-up, AEvice health created an all-new medical wearable called the AEvice Medical to better manage asthma for children. The tracker was developed to support healthcare providers in improving overall treatment efficacy by recording important and relevant historical data relating to respiratory symptoms and medication.

According to the World Health Organisation, 235 million people suffer with asthma worldwide. It is also the most common chronic disease among children.

Asthma is a long-term condition where the airways narrow, swell and produce extra mucus. This causes breathing difficulties which triggers coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. It can be just a small nuisance for some people but for others it can be a major issue that interferes with daily activities and may lead to life-threatening asthma attacks.

This is the world’s first respiratory monitoring device designed for children and comes with the mobile app which stores and provides parents with a summary of their child’s health. The device is attached to a hypoallergenic patch and placed on the child’s chest.

It monitors changes in respiratory rates, wheezing and cough intensity and sends an alert when an asthma attack occurs. Doctors can also have access to the data which helps adjust their treatment plans as it can track the efficacy of the child’s medication.

Thanks to the AEvice, parents can rest easy knowing that it is managing their child’s respiratory health.
